How to get rid of cats? I need all of your help!

STOP FEEDING THEM! I know it sounds cruel, but that is the only way to get rid of them. Eventually, they will move off to greener pastures.

At one time we had something like twenty cats eating here. The place smelled terrible. The animal control only deals with dogs here, and the sheriff is a cat lover, so killing them was out of the question.

It is hard to do, but you have to.

In our county, animal control won't do anything with cats, nor will the shelter- sounds like your area is the same. Trapping or poison are about your only options I'd say. Definetely stop feeding them though.

Go buy a gun and shoot them it would be the least painful, they are awful creatures and can just be a problem, just get rid of them. Then you can easily dispose of their bodies without them dying under the household. You could also trap them in a cage and kill them that way, with a gun or blunt object. Try and make it humane whatever you do. See if you can trap them and put signs up around town for free Deformed cats.

I'm sorry but I think that Havahart traps need to be used and they need to be euthanized since they are not adoptable and will only keep reproducing.

Trap them in a hav a heart and take them to the pound yourself. Let them know when you take the first ones EXACTLY what you are doing - trapping cats left behind when a lady passed away, and that you will be bringing them in as you trap them.

They will be euthanized, but in a more humane method than sic-ing a dog after them or poisoning them.

That's the humane thing to do. If you are not feeding them, then they will probably be very happy to enter the trap for a sardine or bit of canned cat food.

Okay, obviously, animal control and the humane society are not options so forget them. That means you only have two other options:

1) Find a private comapny that does animal removal (yes it will cost you and, no, I don't know how much - it varies)

2) Trap them yourself. You may get scratched, you may get bitten. You will also then have to figure out what to do with them once they are in your posession.

There is no magic solution that will make the cat's disappear without you touching them or doing anything. It is a bad situation to be in but you simply have to deal with it or accept them being there. I also agree that they should stop being fed but I doubt your mother will do that.

Yes traps will be easy...my brother caught the neighbor cat 7 times in one day and that cat was fed! I can't believe there are people telling you to get a dog or poison them! That is just wrong! Cats have every right as any other domestic animal deformed or not...and should not be treated that way...I'm sorry! That just bugs me. It is not the cats fault that they are in this position, it is the owners. And it's now in your hands. This is why we get cats spayed and neutered! Didn't anyone every watch the Price is Right!?

If you trap them, you can humanely euthanize them with ether, available at any car parts store. They won't suffer.

Oh please do not harm the cats! You can get help from Alley Cat Allies (http://www.alleycat.org/ Phone: 240-482-1980). They have a complete plan for helping out in situations just like yours. And if you just remove them then others will move in - they can be trapped and managed and everyone can live in harmony if you just make a small attempt.

Please do not harm them.

yay! i was just going to suggest this!

there are always helping organisations for any problem, it's just a question of knowing who to call. really, brooster if your local humane society (are they a real organization affiliate??) didn't give you any options or recommend smaller shelters who trap, alley cat allies, or private citizens with experience managing feral cat populations, then they're a really bad HS. i'd call back and complain to their director, make sure they realize how negligent they're being in their duties.
