You can barely see his messed up toe here. But he's doing his best and the other birds have not bothered him.
He grumbled about being checked but he did just fine.
 
How do you know when it needs refilling? I am guessing you can’t see the water level?
I lift it and gauge the weight and hear the sloshing. The new one has a fill hole, maybe can see in there? The ladies’ preferences come into play - the new Buckeyes drink from it more than from the bowl, the reverse is true of the older ladies. In summer I was changing them out once a month whether it was low or not, bringing them in and cleaning the inside (nothing grows in there but just on principle), because there are other waterers available, but now with winter they drink from it more often.

Didn’t get home until 5:30, chooks gave up on me and went to bed, so I sneaked in and quietly put the wall sitters and Petra to bed, then let the horses in, feed them and settled the Summer House gang.
Have no idea where Holly is….she’s in that crush somewhere.

I gave Flopsy her dose of clotrimazole and resettled her next to the heater again.
