Cowbirds are decimating the Kirtland Warbler population and if you live in a county where a Kirtland Warbler has been seen, you are encouraged to kill cowbirds.
Kirtland Warblers, btw, are a small blue & yellow (go UM) songbird that spends its summers only in the Huron Nat'l Forest in NE MI. The cowbirds are destroying eggs in the KW's nest and the KWs are raising the cowbirds.
I don't know about Rhode Island, but get a hold of the DNR or a birding club to find out the status.

I think all of the cowbirds have left, hopefully lol, I haven't seen any yet. I think they were being chased by some blue jays. thank you all for the advice.
