Unfortunately, if she has been doing this for two years it may be ingrained and there might not be anything you can do about it. But do try everything so at least you know.

Some cats can't adapt to being part of a multi-cat household. It's possible that re-homing might work. Just warn the family about the problem and be willing to take her back if it doesn't work out.
