I had resigned myself to the fact that my two hens, age 8 months, were just not going to lay until Spring. Figured the days were too short at this point. I was away for the holidays, and imagine my surprise when I got a text from my pet sitter that there was a lovely brown egg on New Year's Eve! I'm assuming it was from Nettie, my Partridge Chanticler. I'm so proud of her! She laid another one, no shell. Then I got to find her 3rd a few days later.

Am I right that my Ameraucana (possibly EE, lower left in picture) will give me green or blue eggs? Do they ever produce brown ones?
