Hi...
I wanted to give some of these brochures to a local feed store that just opened who bought WAY too many chicks and ducks last season. I heard that they lost many of the chicks and ducks...my regular feed store only takes ORDERS...and in turn will have them shipped and call you when they are in.
But I did notice when printing them up that it is only short term brooder care in the brochure...Could we add to it?
Feed requirements 12 weeks starter, 12-24 weeks grower, and 24- weeks layer depending on breed. (I'm sure someone will post with different age ranges and feed requirements

) Oyster shell....grit etc....Maybe even a little paragraph on free ranging.

Coop and square footage per bird requirements. I think once the consumer picks up these brochures...they will think twice about the responsibility it takes to raise chickens.

So really...as a new chicken owner last year I found the feed requirements and when to switch over a little confusing...everyone had a different age when to switch.

Just some thoughts....

That sounds like a great plan!

Just like the chick brochure, have a list of materials and supplies that are recomended so that people who do get birds, can help suport the feed stores by buying these from them too!

If members want to get together and put it together like the chick brochure, that would be great! It can be another community project!

As for feed, some areas you can only get starter/grower. So if that is the case, feed from day 0 till 16-18 weeks, and switch to layer. If there is starter, and then grower, feed starter till 6 weeks, and grower till 16-18 weeks. There is some varience with this dependig on who you ask, but it is a general guideline.

Okay, I just talked about this somewhere else. But in the temperature section of the brochure there isn't a starting temperature. Can this be fixed before it goes out? Sorry if I posted in the wrong place, I'm new at this.
