My grandfather just found one of our hens dangling on a roll of chicken wire, her right leg was stuck. He got her out and I went to go check on her and she is just dragging her right leg when she walks/runs. She’s not as tame as our other birds so I can’t get very close to her to catch her without her running off. I’m pretty sure the leg is broke because she’s not walking on it at all and again it’s dragging behind her. I’ve researched and watched videos on how to help fractured/broken chicken legs, but I’m still just unsure what to do. Fortunately I’ve never encountered a bird with a broken leg, but it’s also unfortunate because I don’t know what to do. I know it’s terrible but we cannot take her to a vet, we don’t have the funds for an expensive vet trip or id take her right now. Any at home suggestions?

an old poultry book I've got says to use absorbent brown paper with egg white, to make a plaster-cast type treatment, if it is the lower leg.
If it is broken at the thigh I think it's hopeless. Good luck.
Thank you for responding :) I do not believe it is at the thigh so I’m happy about that! I will definitely try something similar to that :)
