My chickens are kind of old, they are 3-5 years old. I know they are laying, because, in a week of warmth, they laid rapidly, and well. So my question is: how can I get my chickens to keep laying, keep laying well, and lay in colder weather? Any suggestions welcome, diet, coop, devices, and any thing else you can think of.

We keep lights on to simulate more daylight hours. High protein feed Our birds all tend to take breaks - for moulting, going broody. This tends to happen with non hatchery birds or heritage birds. Your birds will likely continue to lay, but over time they will lay fewer and fewer eggs. So you may want to be adding some new birds to your grouping if the need is high for eggs....
