How to Hold a Hen

My chooks are awesome, but they need to be moved around alot, because my family and I usually have picnics in the backyard, the chooks often try to take to food (and they sometimes succeed). I am the one responsib;e for them, since I love chickens so much, but whenever I try to hold one, they flap out of my arms!! Can you please tell me how to hold a chicken properly?? Thanks if you do!!

Two hands over the wings, pick up. Then tuck under arm and body similar to a football. Gently, but firmly.

The way to hold a chicken and have the chicken not object is to pick it up by one leg and carry it in this manner with its head pointed down. If you object to treating your chickens in this fashion then pick it up by both legs and carry it head down.
