Today is day 19 for my eggs and most of them have just started pipping. According to my humidity guage it wont get over 65. I have added alot of hot water and it still wont budge. Im really worried they will get shrink wrapped.

I use (clean, new) sponges in my bator. Last hatch I had two whole sponges and one cut in three strips placed strategically in the bator. I had no problem keeping the humidity up with them, (but I am in an area where we have decent-high humidity anyway.)

I also had trouble keeping humidity up during lockdown. I've got two sponges in one cut up into four piece under the screen and one in two pieces on top, a cloth in the water wells and am keeping a humidifier going in the room. I also have the vents partially closed with tape. Humidity is/ was between 59 and 65 for my hatch. Most of the chicks hatched just fine. I've had several that piped and didn't hatch till the next day. One took 2 days to completely hatch out.. The humidity will rise somewhat once chicks start hatching. Relax they should be fine.

Ok thanks i think i will put a sponge in there and hope for the best.

Holy cow! Is Arkansas that dry? I guess NY has it's advantages. Even in winter we are at 50%+ humidity during day and 70%+ at night. I'm thankful I don't have that issue at least.

Most of mine have taken between 12-18 hours from pip to zip. I've had a couple zip before I knew they were pipped and a couple that had me biting my nails because we were going into a full day between.

Is there condensation on the sight windows? If there is you don't have nothing to worry about if there is not as more hot water

I do not, even at my 75%, have condensation on my windows. While I agree if there is condensation you are probably good with humidity being up, you don't need condensation to signify your humidity is high enough.

With the unusual cold weather we have been having the humidity has been between 10 and 15 percent in the house. Normally its really high since I live close to the Mississippi river. This month is not normal for Arkansas.
