Hello,

I was wondering if there was anyway to increase the 'activity' of your rooster? Mine only mates a few times a day and the eggs are mainly infertile. Does anyone know how, if there is, any way to increase your egg fertility?

I don't know, but would like to find out.

Our young Splash Cochin rooster tries to mount the hens, but he just can't really get on too well. Rooky.

A few times a day should be plenty unless you've got too many hens for the roo. A hen stays fertile for weeks after a roo mates so really he'd only need to mate with each hen about once a week if even that to keep all the eggs fertile all the time. Unless you've got a lot of hens for him so he's only mating a few favorites you're roo is either "shooting blanks" or not capable of mating properly with your hens. Some breeds have more trouble than others with body shape or feathers getting in the way.
