I had a wonderful cockerel that disappeared a couple months ago. I think a predator came into our yard and in the process of protecting his flock he was taken. One of my hens had a huge chunk of her wing feathers ripped out, and she was always right next to him, which is why I think that.

I want to get another roo b/c I think they could use the protection and such since they free range all day long. I also want them to breed. I've had awesome luck integrating chicks into my flock, but I'm not sure if I want to go through raising another one from a chick. Is it possible to integrate an 18-20ish week old cockerel or even a grown roo? How should I do it? Like I said, they free range across about 2 acres all day, but sleep together in a coop at night.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
