How to keep 5-gallon nipple fount from freezing?

Just what I was looking for! I have used cookie tin heaters for years. If we have subzero weather I switch to 75 w (can't remember the conversion for new ones). This winter we are having issues with them burning out within 6 to 7 days and it is getting frustrating as well as expensive. Can someone explain how you put it in? What holds it on the top?

If your asking about how to install the aquarium heater in the 5 Gallon bucket it's real easy to do. Just drill or cut a hole in the lid of whatever bucket you use. The hole needs to be big enough to drop the heater into the bucket. I just drop the heater down until it hits it bottom of the bucket. You will want to make sure you always have the heater submerged. It's up to you if you want to cover up the hole in the lid you drilled. If you cover the hole that will help your water stay cleaner longer.
I hope this answers your questions. Also you can't seal the bucket up completely. You need to allow air in the top in order for water to come out.
