I have a single call duckling in the brooder at 9 days old and it never stops peeping while in there!!!! My family wont let it keep doing that (because it is inside). What should I do. It already has a mirror and a stuffed animal.

You may need to get a companion for the lone duckling. I had a duckling pace back and forth so much when I sold her hatchmates and she had to wait for the next hatch that she ended up twisting her leg. Ducklings really need to be with other ducklings. I had to let the single duckling follow me around the house and stay with me until there were more ducklings for her to grow up with so now she is our favorite duck. She still walks with a limp from those few days she was alone and traumatized, though.

Calls are needy -period- the fact it's alone spells trouble right there.. is it imprinted on you? how did you get only one?

My 4 in the house(failed hatches) often holler and again there are 4! calls are very vocal birds, even the ones out with their mama can be fairly loud and they are now almost 4wks.

If the temp is good, feed/water etc.. i would agree with the rest a buddy or rehome it to someone who has other ducks, mainly calls due to their small stature, it really is not ideal to raise a single duckling unless absolutely necessary and that requires massive dedication on the persons behalf.

Well it always has food and water. The temp. says 90. And she had a friend from the outdoors(a same age duckling that hatched outside) but she was peeping even more and I felt bad for stealing the other one away from its moma so I put it back. (that was at day 3-4 age wise)

Oh I just saw your post, Going quackers after posting my last post. But I got her because I only had 1 egg in the incubator. (The mom died after laying one egg. a fisher killed her) I have 5 more calls outside. Ok my family started to think it had "fail to thrive syndrome" because it is small and peeps alot. (The other duckling outside are bigger but there parents are much bigger than my ducklings parents)
