I've beebn feeding her and changing her ater since i got her on m,onday. i check this morning tpo make sure shes locked in but safe. Yesterday there wwas this strange white dog i dont know ( i know most dogs around here ) that was barking and making ogogle run around in er little cook. i nearly killed him. Serves the bugger right. Npw this afternoon ni go and there is a huge hole bored in the wire of the koop. And no google . Tnhat the second one i a month and a half. But this tyme is personal. I put down some hoemmade repelent around the coop for the next one when she comes. But when they reach 4 months i want them to do some free ranging what to do to eleimainate those stupid son of a sea-turtle dogs??
would do it in a heart beat but ....... it seems so dissilusionary.. i think it better 2 just keep em away. ..... or i could use the three s's if that dont wurke.
Uh, it sounds like you just need much better fencing?
You can't rely just on the cage itself (although that sounds awful lonely, having just one chicken in a cage...). The closer a predator can get to its dinner, the more motivated it will be to break in. So it would be very helpful to have STRONG fencing some distance away from where the cage is. If you can't fence the whole yard, at least fence off a 10x10 area (or whatever) with the cage inconspicuously located at the hardest-to-get-to part of the space.
Repellent is not going to do anything whatsoever vs a hungry predator.
Or pick up the dog (trap it) and take it to the pound.
Figure out a way to tell the owners...
If they continue to let the dog run loose... SSS. Period.
I have a premier electric fence. When i put it up in the spring I make it a point to tell my dog neighbors. They think the zap is much worse than it is and I let them.
I guess they think thier dogs will get electrocuted.
This may not work for you, but the best protection I have out side of the fence is my dog. She has a over developed sense of territory and I exposed her to the chickens when the were just little peep ball, so they are on the ok list. However, when the neighbors dogs come a calling, she makes quick work of showing them the door. She also walks the property lines and marks everywhere... so far I haven't seen any coon decide to risk her wrath for little KFC.
