Oh, the big chickens!!

Fabulous information! I love the compost in coop idea and they way you have yours set up. Thanks, also, for the rest of the info you have to share. Everyone is sharing such good info to keep the girls happy. I just took a treat of yogurt and raisins out to my girls.:)

Oh I can't wait to start giving treats! My girls are 8 and 5 weeks old. How old should they be before giving people food? I do give them oatmeal flakes as a treat and they love that.

Go ahead and give them some treats, corn cobs are good, watermelon, cooked spaghetti noodles, apples, etc they might be afraid at first but once one tries it they will all join in. Just don't give them too much to start. I have all ages and the "babies" who are now 7 or 8 weeks old love all of those treats. Have fun, the spaghetti is real fun to watch!

to keep our chickies from getting board I like to buy beautiful annuals and plant them is a re-purposed 18 wheeler hub cap - then I like to go to go about my business for a little while while they totally destroy the flowers and make the hub cap into a personal dirt bath!

mine are about a week old and we found a cricket and threw it in. oddball saw it and took off like a bird out of hell to get away from her sisters but they caught her and ripped it to bits. now we look for crickets and let them peck the front yard for ants. its not much but it works to get them out of their cage till the coop is done tomorrow!
