How to keep chickens out of a garden

We are about to start planning our garden this year and wondering the best way to keep the chickens out.
 
My garden fence itself is not very high. BUT I have flimsy fensing wire attached higher than the poles. So they can't land on anything to then hop down and so far no one just fly's right over it. They like to hop up and then down and that's not working to land on flimsy wire......

Yep, a fence with no solid top rail. I use electric poultry netting but I don't electrify it. It's easier to maintain than a permanent fence since it can be moved easily.
 
Once your garden is growing well. The chickens probably won’t damage it much. But they will eat all the tiny seedlings, poke holes in your strawberries, and lay eggs in your peas -and if you don’t notice they are missing, they might brood some eggs there too.

But, as noted above a flimsy string at top is not desirable to land in, so that is a good tactic. Otherwise adding some thin deer netting above any shorter fence will work too.
