I am not fond of chicken landscaping. They seem to think that the wood chips look much better kicked out onto the sidewalk than sitting in the foundation gardens around the house. I am actually thinking of building a much bigger run for the chickens this summer so that they can be comfy and happy in their “chicken yard” most of the day. They are so joyful free ranging, but they make my yard look like hillbilly hell, with the sidewalks covered with wood chips they kicked out of the gardens and dirt/grass they kicked out of the yard, not to mention chicken poop all over the porches. They loooooooove us and want to hang out as close to us as possible

LOL... they do think that!!!! ... they don't have a good sense of "esthetics" when it comes to landscaping .. not at all...

I've been putting rocks about the size of a grapefruit around the bases of my roses because the girls were digging down to the roots. This has helped a lot with the roses out in the open. But I'm currently fencing off the rest of the flower garden and I've had the vegetable garden done for a while because I have a tomato and cucumber stealing dog

I am currently fighting my husband's free range chickens. No luck so far. They have destroyed two of my flower beds and all the flowers. I really don't want to fence but may be forced to. I had to laugh over your tomato and cucumber stealing dog. Have a friend who has a basset who steals tomatoes and banana peppers out of the sack when I take them to her. Though he was the only one lol.

This is a subject close to my heart.

Two years ago I had a complete tantrum, a meltdown, stamped my feet and wrinkled my nose. I had looked out the window at my carefully cared for vedge bed. Lovingly covered with insect mesh to protect my greens.
And what did I see ?
At one end, Molly, my hunter gatherer cat inside the net playing with a mouse over and over shredding my insect protection.
The dog at the end, a large golden retriever with a bladder the size of an Olympic swimming pool peeing on the net.
At the other end, having moved the net to make a nicely shaped tunnel was Tilly. My once White but now very, very grubby Azur scratching away with glee and munching on all my good intentions.
So, Hubby not daring to make any comment. Arranged for this to be made.
Note the picture with the door 😊
