How to keep eggs between 50 and 60 degrees for hatching?

If they cannot go in the refrigerator and they cannot stay at room temp, what is the best (practical) method to store eggs for hatching for several days? I tried to find the info on the forum, but never saw anything like this...................

I leave them on my counter in egg cartons...pointy end down...they do great!

Our basement is usually about 55 degrees and doesn't vary much.

Where are you from? Basements are a great idea if you have one...obviously I don't in FL which is why I just keep them on the counter.

I refrigerate mine. Most fridges are about 42-45 degrees. They hatch perfectly.

I live in GA. But my house stays around 70 or so. Just wondered how folks kept them for days at these lower temps.

It is odd to me that a hen can lay eggs in 90 degree weather for days and days and then start setting and all of the chicks hatch. Quail do the same and lay LOTS of eggs in the wild before setting.

I guess I will just have to experiment myself and see what happens.

I was not sure if you could use a cooler with ice in it or how to do this in a simple way.

Do you have an insulated garage or a guest room you don't usually use? See if you shut the door to one room and the heater vent if it gets to be the right temp. We keep our heater on at 64F so the rooms far away from the main room stay around 58-60F...
That's where mine are going, but I'm a newbie so don't count on my advice yet!

The temperature at the floor level of a closet would be cooler than the temp on a wall thermostat.

room temp. is ok if you set your eggs weekly, thats not 90 degees.
They just keep longer if cooler. I use the basement, but have hatch eggs from a fridge. Better cooler than above 70.

Birds in the wild lay in the spring when its cooler, and hide their nest out of the Sun.

I have a powder room for guests right by my garage door, it is always cold in there, but I have found a good use for it. generally it is 55 degrees. My guests must think it is weird when the go to use it and see eggs in a carton just hanging out. So far though no one has asked why, they all think I am nuts anyway...
