How to keep mites/maggots/flies off chickens?

And for the flies it stinks but take a 2 liter and put a can of sardines and the juice with a cup of water in it shake it up and put a hole in it a little smaller than a dime again it stinks but we caught hundreds in 3 days. We didn’t even know there were that many day one and 2 didn’t do much but I guess day three was extra stinky to them bc we got every fly within miles. They fly in and can’t get out. Good luck
Now that is very useful advice, I've never heard of before :)

I'm usually the natural freak here, so here's my take on fly butt. I give my ladies a soak in a natural oil soap, Castile with a little Epsom salts and vinegar then I rub oil around their bottoms and finally when they are dry I rub benonite clay into them. Also I add clay into their dust bath.

If I find one day that these methods stop working I will be asking the good people here what to do, because there's a lot of knowledgeable folks in this place. :)
Thank you for the help!

Do you have a bird that currently has FlyStrike? If you do, then the maggots need to be gotten rid of quickly, they can damage tissue, cause infection and if not addressed soon, the bird can become very sick and die.
Im treating it now! I was trying to find the best option for treatment and people are giving lots of great advice!

How long has she had maggots? The quickest to get them stopped instead of trying to hunt and find products is to place the bird in a tub of warm soapy water (you can use mild dish soap) and drown a lot of the maggots. The need to be gotten off asap.
Flush well and rinse off as many as you can. Pick off the rest with tweezers.
If there's a wound, it may need to be debrided to help get infection and maggot gunk out.

Do you have photos?

As soon as I noticed it I actually did put her in a tub of warm soapy water, I think she may have had them a few days prior to me noticing it (not many) but as soon as I noticed it I took action. Tomorrow I’m going to check on her again to see if I got everything or if I need to treat her more by like you said taking tweezers and looking at the wound (I did see one and did my best at treating that with the amount of time I had since I was busy that day). Tomorrow I will let you know on any updates and try and get pictures if I can because it’s night where I am at so I can’t get some at this moment.
