want try my hand at new chicks my roo is now about 9 months old and he good to some of the girls ( he a piece of work) he is mean to the old girls so was thinking just let him out with the younger chicks jf they are under a year old should you hatch their eggs??

I let my pullet brood the largest eggs, 6 of 9 hatched. Some eggs were from hens 2 years old, 2 were from 8 mo. olds.

Cute chicks. What breed are they?

I finished putting the compost on a couple of my raised beds. There are two more raised beds that need weeding, leveling and adding compost to. Someday.

Mutts, or BYX ( barnyard mix) Dads are Mystic Marans (BCM X Barred Rock) mom's of the 3 yellow are White leghorn or cream legbar, and little dark chick's mom is an olive egger.

@ValerieJ , I don't know if you ever found your cheese curds, but I saw that the IGA here might (at participating stores) have them, and they're on sale through today.

I don't think I've ever had cheese curds, but I guess they're required to make authentic poutine. Which I've also never eaten.

I don't think I've ever had cheese curds, but I guess they're required to make authentic poutine. Which I've also never eaten.

Oh yeah...that's it. I'll have to look it up.

Well, I mentioned it to DH, since I thought it would go well with his burger tonight, but he didn't sound interested at all. He used to travel often to Canada for work and had opportunities to try poutine. He didn't eat it then either. For an adventurous eater, the gravy over fries with cheese doesn't appeal to him, I guess.

Maybe he doesn't want it to outshine his burger. I told him I'd make a mushroom swiss burger with grilled onions. He wants plain fries with that.

I always thought the idea of poutine was just wrong myself. But it might be something a person would have to try before you knew for sure.
