How to keep your brooder clean?

So your Flee trap heaters seem to be enough on its own for your little ducklings to keep worm for the first few weeks?

Yes, using them with the tub lids to keep the heat in has been all I need to keep the ducklings warm. They spend most of their time outside of them and just snuggle up in them to sleep so I know they are providing plenty of heat.

Do your tub lids look something like this ?

This is not my picture. I found on the Internet, I think it was actually In backyardchickens somewhere.

There isn't really a way to keep them clean or not have to clean daily/every other day but what I do is put a layer of horse stall pellets under the bedding (straw, shavings, etc of your choice) and it soaks up all the moisture which ultimately rid's the smell and most of the water mess. Soaks it up like cat litter and leaves their actual bedding semi dry so it's not just a mess of wet and stinky

No, my tubs are clear and much larger. I don't use bedding or heat lamps. I don't use chick feeders and waterers either. That is nothing like my set-up for ducklings.

Im not sure if its hard on their feet but they definately get around alot easier then on straw. They run back and fowarth playing on it alot more.in The straw their so clumbsy

I know that this is not what your tubs look like.
I was wondering if the lids looked like this with the wire mesh.
I am just wondering what your " vented lids look like"

Also what do you use for there feed and water containers?
I am thinking about using the bottom part of am Egg cartoon for the feed and grit, then cutting a few hols in a plastic container at the height of the ducklings head So they can drink but can't get in.

Oh, I see! I just vent the lids by sliding them more open or closed, nothing fancy. I am keeping the tubs intact in case we ever need them for storage someday.
