Nice message twentynine. You seem to sell them very cheap i am in the uk and prices seem better as i can sell day old chick for £8. The idea was that if i can say that they are female i will be able to sell them for more and hopefully create more interest in them amongst pet owners who may just want a few hens roaming in the back garden. As you said though twentynine if 50% are male then the price of female would have to at least double to make it worth while which is unrealistic. Another reason why i wanted to get rid of the males is that they cost a lot more in food as they eat more. I'm paying £140 for 500kg which may be cheap however i don't wish to waste it by feeding the males.
I think if i got the gassing set up right it would work for large number of birds. I can't see myself sitting down with a pair of shears doing them one by one. From everything said however, i am looking for a different way but one hasn't yet been suggested that is suited to myself and where i live in the remote country in the UK.
