How to let ducks bathe in winter?!

I live in Maine where the temperatures rarely get above 35° in the winter and I don’t know how to keep my ducks clean. My pekin ducks feathers are getting all brown and muddy and its too cold to fill up their pool...any advice from people who live in cold areas? The best I can do is fill up a shallow bowl of water but she doesn’t seem to like it for swimming.

I live in Northwestern Ontario and a bucket of water without a heater will freeze solid in a couple hours or less. Use two buckets from the indoor tap (or run a small length of hose from the sink to the buckets on the floor) and fill a kiddie pool outside. My ducks will go into the pool when it’s absolutely insanely cold out I’m talking I’m wearing a sweater long John’s sweat pants and a snow suit and they’re still bathing. Just dump the water before you put them away as the frozen water might crack your pool... oh and make sure they have plenty of fresh bedding / litter / straw / hay in their house to cozy up into.

This is what I use in my 60 gallon stock tank. I leave it in all the time with a copper wire in the pool to protect the birds from shocks.

Good to know. So many say not to use with plastic and so many plastic say to use floaters only. It can be very frustrating finding one to work.
