Hello all, just thought I would share with you how I made a dust box for my chickens. They have access to a large protected run however the ground is frozen and doesn’t allow for much dust bathing. Dust bathing is a crucial thing for chickens as it helps keep any parasites off them and seems to make them quite happy 
I picked up a mixing trough in the pig section at Tractor Supply for around $10. I filled it 1/3 with food grade Diamataceous Earth, 1/3 wood ash from our fireplace as we use untreated wood and 1/3 kids play sand. It took over a week for them to figure out how to use it but now they can’t get enough! Check out a video:
