how to make a hen go broody?

(Sorry to hijack your post) quick question; are sussex generally good broodies? I just bought a platinum sussex hen(1-2yrs old) and was just wondering if they make good broodies, how often they go broody, are there times when they're more prone to do it, etc. And how old do pekin bantams start laying? Ive got a very slow maturing pullet, roughly 5 months old.
Again sorry to hijack the post.

it can happen almost any time once they start laying eggs. breeds that get broody often are usually Bantams. although my austrolourps get broody pretty often with one going broody like every month! just be patient and eventually it will happen. place some dummy eggs or golfballs in there to encourage them :)
I have been trying to encourage my austrolopes to go broody but with no success. Each hen has layed somewhere around 45 eggs but still no broodiness

I added a divider and left an egg in the community nest box today before dragging my incubator off the shelf and testing it. You never knowing whether one will go broody or not.
