Okay, i have just bought my frist incubator and am thinking about building a styrofoam hatcher. I have an idea in my head, but it seems too simple, so I'm wondering what I'm leaving out.

I thought I would buy a styrofoam cooler, cut a hole through the side and wire up a light bulb. Then, for humidity, just place small dishes of water or sponges in the bottom. I would also cut some holes in it for ventilation. What am I forgetting? Also, for those of you who have already done this, how do you regulate your temp. with just a light bulb. Turn it off and on? Dimmer switch?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A dimmer switch will really frustrate you. Go online to Cutlers Supply and order a wafer thermostat assembly. They are designed for incubTors and I have found them to be very reliable
