How to make combs bright red

my serama cockerel's wattle is red but not like my cochin roos, i dont know if it is too dry or what? should i feed more/ less protien?
they get hard boiled eggs and mealworms, banannas and apples

Try mixing in some gamebird crumbles. It really brightened up my BO. I tried Manna Pro Show bird supplement. He looked GREAT but it made him so ornery it wasn't worth it.

Olive oil increases circulation. Feed them something like runny oatmeal and put a few tablespoons of olive oil in it. After a little while, they'll be glowing red in their faces. I accidentally found this out and it works pretty much every time. To moisten combs and wattles, you can rub in the olive oil, too.

I found this out quite by accident. Was feeding the girls a big dish of oatmeal and put in some olive oil (cant remember why I did it) plus yogurt. When one of my BR hens came sauntering up on the deck, I noticed her face, comb and wattles were flaming red. It was really wild. Asked my hubby what happened to Becca's face. Then, we noticed that all the ones who managed to push their way in and eat the concoction were also glowing red. Then I did some research on benefits of olive oil and found out the reason. We use extra virgin olive oil in our cooking sometimes so we always have it on hand.

I feed the Manna Pro Showbird feed, by itself until they got older, now it's mixed with layer pellets. I've never seen prettier feathers! Even the baby pullet has a bright red comb, and the newest birds are also shaping up pretty nicely. And rooster is still sweet as can be, the feed hasn't changed his personality at all.
