One way that you can reduce the cost of raising chickens: Go to a bread store, ask if they have any outdated bread for your chickens. The more bread they eat, the less chicken food they eat. Obviously you should check the bread for mold and such.

I use bread as a treat RARELY because it fills them up with not much nutrition. JMHO

I'm just wondering if there is anything new that can be added to this thread?
I let my chickens free range but they would rather eat the chicken crumbles.

Do a search on fermented feed.

Seems to decrease food consumption down 30% or so.
