how to make mash for newborn chicks

What kind of chicks do you have and how old are they? If they're a bantam breed you might need to crush the crmbles up a bit so they can eat them more easily. If you decide to make a mush you can just mix the crumble with warm water, but it sours easily so you'll have to change it out frequently.

When they are that young they do not need to eat much. By day 3 they have absorbed the yolk sac and will begin to eat and drink.
I have wet their chick feed down with warm water to encourage them to eat but this tends to make it harder to transition them to just eating dry feed.
After years of raising chicks it is easier to start them in brooder on newspaper with dry feed scattered around and the waterer with marbles in tray to keep them from drowning.

Those breeds of chicks should have no trouble with the chick starter crumble. I agree with lilchick that they are just getting to the point that they will really start eating.
