I have 2 pens that have 3 hens and 1 roo in each. The hens are this years pullets,EEs,and the roos are last years, large bantam.I have been hatching eggs from these pens to get some more color.I have hatched about 30 from these 6 hens this year and got the colors I was hoping for.Last month I set around 40 eggs.30 from these hens.Only 20 were fertile.(The other 10 were from my free range EEs.)I have 40 more in the incubator now.I candled them today on day 8.I see very few developing.I know the roos where doing their job before but it appears they have not been doing so good lately. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to do their part?I did swap them from one set of hens to the other but saw no real interest.Could it help to take them out and keep them away for a few days and see if they were more active?I searched and couldn't find any info on such a thing.I really didn't know what/how to search for such a topic.I would really appreciate any and all sugestions.I would like to get at least one more hatching for these this year. Thanks for reading this.Hope someone can help.
