How to measure height

Does anyone know how to measure height of chickens? We want to get Jersey Giants but want to know how tall they get. Are chickens measured to the top of their comb? Horses are measured to the top of their withers (shoulder not top of head). We just want to know what we are getting into.

That's an interesting question. I know for Russian Orloffs, we measure to the top of the head since we are trying to get the tall stature bred back into the birds.

Just curious - why do you want to know? Are you planning coop space?

my wife just wants to know what to expect. She will only own giant breed dogs, and she wants the biggest chickens she can get as well. I was planning on about 6 square feet of coop space and about 15 to 20' of run space.
