How to open a pipped egg

Hi two hatched out of the 4 . They hatched on day 23. They are very happy but one has a bump on its head not sure what it is i'm just hoping it goes away on its own. It don't know what happened to the other two, they were ready to hatch but never emerged.
I'm setting some more on monday after ive made some adjustments to the bator.
Thanks for all your help.

Is the one that has a bump on the head a Silkie or Polish, That is a natural thing with both breeds.

Sorry about the one that did not make it. Sounds like you do have some issues with the incubator. Late hatch is low temps and the electrical outage would definately cause that. Hopefully the next batch will do much better.

Hi Yes they could well be pollish or silkie, the eggs were small and a creamy colour. The only problem is only one out of the two has the bump on its head. Would this mean its a boy and a girl.

Boy & girl? You wish. If you have my kind of luck they're both roosters. That huge forehead is called a vault, some Sikies have huge vaults. I hate them and avoid having them in my flock. The only time I ever lost a chick without explanation had a huge vaulted skull. I just mentioned that so you don't think there is anything wrong with the one that does not have it, many long time breeders prefer not to have that huge skull.
