How to orally give medication to quail.

Hi everyone,

I am new here so I’m not really sure how this works but I am in need of some advice. My 2-3 year old Celadon Coturnix quail has an infection in her joint. Because of this, my vet has prescribed a 7 day Doxycycline plan to get rid of it. My issue is I’m struggling to give her the medication. I have crushed the dosage into powder and mixed with water to give with a syringe. But even after watching videos provided by my vet on how to give this to her (they suggest putting it down her throat but watching out for her airway) despite my best efforts this method is not working as her little beak is too small for me to see down her throat. I have been trying to drop little drops of the mix at the tip of her beak to give her the medication but she either shakes it off or she ends up choking, which just breaks my heart. I also cannot give it to her in pill form because her beak and throat is once again too small. Is there any way I can mix the crushed pill with something like honey or another more dense solution to ensure the liquid does not leak into her airway? Or any other method that might work? Maybe I can put it into her drinking water for the 7 day duration? Please, I am now desperate! If anyone knows what I can do please let me know, it breaks me to see her like this

Is she separated from others? Eating/drinking normally? You could try mixing it into something that she will ingest during the dosage period. (ie egg yolk, yogurt, or small drinking container vs force-feeding)

Cut it into pieces small enough to swallow, aim for watermelon seed size as my quail happily eat those. Open her beak, plop it on her throat then hold her chin up, she should just swallow it.

My bird's like ground up black soldier flies. Maybe if you crushed up the Antibiotic tablets and mix the powder with crushed Black Soldier flies. That might get your to consume the medication.
