I have 9 RIR hens, and with what I eat and give away. I still have a lot left over,.Could someone please tell me What would be the best way to package and ship the eggs, so I can send some to some friend's I have in a different state Thanks for your help.

Last spring, I sold some Buff Orpington hatching eggs on e-bay. I put some wood shavings in the carton with the eggs so they won't wiggle around a lot. Then, I put the carton of eggs in a box with some packing peanuts.

We pack ours as follows in an ebay flat rate box or an ebay #7 box

Two layers of large bubble wrap on the bottom
about 2 inches of styrofoam peanuts over that
Wrap each egg in a sheet of medium bubble wrap, put them in the center of the box and pack peanuts all around the eggs.
Fill the rest of the box with peanuts
2 layers of bubble wrap over the top

In many years of shipping eggs it's very rare we have a cracked or broken egg.

Thanks a lot for all the help, I think I'm going with the individual bubble wrap ,to me it looks the best, but every ones method looks like it would work just fine. Thanks Y'all

The best received package of eggs I ever received was packed as such:

Styrofoam laid on the bottom and sides of the box. It wasn't close fitting Styrofoam, just large pieces, but it did keep the contents away from the sides of the box.. Then there was LOTS of shredded paper. Nestled in all of this tightly packed paper in the middle of the box was a bag. The bag was full of shredded paper and individually wrapped eggs, wrapped with bubble wrap. The bag was tied securely. Then there was more paper and then a final layer of foam. The contents of the box did not move and no eggs ever came in contact with the side of the box. They also didn't bump into each other packed this way. There were no broken eggs.

A total of 16 eggs were shipped and 12 hatched. So you can't beat that! When I ship eggs, I will do my best to copy this shipment.
