How to palpate a hen for her eggs?????

does anyone know how to palpate a hen to see if she is producing eggs? Or know of a website or anywhere else to get information on palpating a chicken? We have seen oldtimers doing it at sale barns but never got a chance to ask for a demonstration. Any information or help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Havent heard that one myself, but then again Im new...I know you can tell by looking at there Vents...and also by there comb and wattle colors...they deepen in red....
