How to potty train a Chihuahua

Hi I have a Chihuahua that the last owner only thought how to go pee and poop on a pee pee pad he will not pee outside how do I get him too thanks

Watching for signs is the first step to potty training. When he starts sniffing the floor, walking in circles, or walking towards that pee pad, IMMEDIATELY take him outside and start using the command "Go Potty" and just walk around with him for a while. When he finally does go potty, wait until he has finished doing his business, then give him a treat and start praising him like he just won a million bucks. Repeat this process over and over. This is how I trained my 3 dogs and it worked great.

PS, patience is key. You might have to walk him around for 30 minutes before he finally gives in and pees outside. Also, always take him to the same spot outside and he'll smell his own potty and trigger him to pee there again. It helps, anyway.

It might be a good idea to take the pee pad outside with him so he gets the idea.

Put him on a schedule. Wakes up, goes outside. Eats, wait 20 min, goes outside. Figure out when he likes to "go" and take him out then. Don't forget to celebrate like heck when he does his business outside. Praise him, pet him, give him treats.
