how to price chicks????

What is a reasonable asking price for female BR chicks locally, from a well known hatchery?

If you know for certain they are Barred Rocks and that they are all female. $2.00-$2.50 is the general price for pullet chicks at my local farm store.

I usually see pullet chicks for $5 at my local swaps.

Whatever happended to just saying something like, "Name your price, my friend! What's your budget?"
If it's not enough, then you can negotiate. Call it a ''price evaluation survey', if it helps to think of it that way.

You only have to do it once or twice and then you will know what people will pay in the region where you live. An arbitrary price from someone 2,000 miles from you may or may not be what is best for you.



You're not running a retail outlet, so why be set on a price before you know your market?

I see your point davaroo.... from $2 to $5. i figure i will start off at four and adjust as needed. thanks to everyone for the help. it definately gave me a better idea of what to do.
