How to Properly Use a Flower Pot---Pics included

I used to have a pot of chard on my front stoop, too. Now, it looks a lot like your pot of flowers!

My girls ignored my chard for months and then ate it all in just a couple of hours. Just another gang of vandals, looking for a good time...

I had a pot of lettuce, up on the grill so the girls wouldn't eat it. They too left it alone for a good long while, but my grill often looks like Speckledhen's and they found it. In one day it was reduced to a tasty dust bath......but I love the zoned out, trancelike state of a dust bathing hen so I had to forgive them.

My granny grew these all the time. They spread like wildfire. And I have had several of the plants over the years. Like some here, I manage to kill most plants. My chickens, however, are thriving. Now I just need some flower pots and they'll be perfect...

How cute!

If my mother, an avid gardner, saw that, she would demonstrate "How to Properly Use a Soup Pot"..

Now, we don't just have backyard chickens, we have backporch chickens. What next? Potted Bantams in the kitchen window?
