How to protect hens wings during mating?

I find that no matter how many hens I have , the roo has 2-3 favorites that get bald any way.

I've been trying a few different things from duct tape on their saddles to cover the bald spots, to duct tape directly on the wings. I'm in the trial & error phase ...... so far trying to rig the tape on the saddles, & two side taping it over the wings (so it doesn't actually stick to the wings) is working ..... tape directly on the wings falls of quickly ..... but I just tried a longer piece of tape to wrap almost completely around ..... will see how it goes!

I haven't had any luck at all! Tape on the wings doesn't last long, tape on their saddles hinders them getting into some of the smaller nesting boxes, I think I'm going to try globbing on some bag balm or Vaseline!

Has the bag balm/Vaseline worked? I'm having the same issue. I have one hen who has complete bald spots on the top of both of her wings, from my rooster, and it looks painful.
