How to raise a lone chick?

Anyways, i'm new to this, but it ,may be good to put the chick with the mum at night. If it doesn't work, the chick won't die, as long as you take good care of it. My neighbors gave me some eggs and only one hatched, and it's now laying eggs.

Well, she accepted it!
i brought the chick down in a basket in a towel, and the mom started calling her other two chicks back under her (they came out), well the chick in the basket heard her, and thought she was talking to him! So he popped out of the basket and called back trying to find momma, so i put him in and she tiredly snuggled him in with her beak.

Did you raise the chick without a broody?
