How to raise humidity???

We ended up doing pretty well with our hatch. Out of 16 we had 10 hatch, which I am told is very good for shipped eggs. What I did was use soaking wet sponges. I don't know the level for guineas, but for the buttons, I kept it pretty high. For the first part I used two sponges and it stayed in the mid fifties, then for the hatching I added a third sponge and it raised it up to the 60's which is exactly where I wanted it. I am even getting ready to use it for some Bobwhite eggs as soon as they arrive in a few days!

I wish you the best of luck with your hatch!!!

Thank you very much; I'll definitely add another sponge. My husband is waiting for his turn with the incubator. He wants to try some quail eggs, too.

I never would have thought of diapers, but you are so right. A really wet diaper is much heavier with water than a sponge. I bought sponges today; I'll get some cheap diapers tomorrow. Thank you so much for the idea.

This was the very first time happening to me..so here is my story. I went to a young mans place to pick up 3 eggs to hatch for him as he thought he was doing something wrong with no hatches. He also had quail eggs which he wanted me to take a few as well, I knew it was going to be a problem cause they need a higher humidity than chicks. But I put them in anyway. Lock down time came and I just set them in a corner..knowing they could not have developed. This morning I get up and saw two of my hatched chicks sitting together and all at once a little striped head sticks out. Yep....a quail chick. Don't tell me how or why....I guess sometimes Mother Nature tempts us as much as we do her!!! So they are tough little guys and don't give up on them!

You will NOT want to eat a egg that has sat in your bator for 2 \\ 3 weeks at 100ish deg..... Open one when you clean up after the next hatch. Some are nasty, and in my humble opinion , none are edible. Bill
