Fugly Farm

My plot is still covered in weeds. It hasn't been the weather for doing much bar the essentials. I do pull the nettles and a couple of other weeds that grow easily and fast here. It doesn't take them long to put down a far reaching root system that's lots more work if you leave the weeds to grow until dig over and planting time.
The work we did last year on the fruit trees which had been badly neglected for a few years looks like it was worthwhile from the spring growth I've seen so far.
Yeah, weeds can become a bigger job if left too long. We have garden boxes and we have landscape fabric on the ground. Still get weeds around the edges, but it sure minimizes the work.

Looks good IM! Mine still looks like a disaster... I'm slowly getting it cleaned out and ready to plant.
I only put stuff in one planter this Spring. Really hoping that the Thai basil makes it through summer and that we don’t roast outside. El Niño gives us the potential for a wet monsoon season, fingers crossed. I have some things ready to plant as soon as the weather cools off though.

Some of those weeds are good for you, nettles are for sure. I hope your weather improves!

Mama has been going back into the shade garden with the littles but she’s done. It’s time for her to be brave and go back to the flock, plus the baby is running from her so she’s obviously only in back because of the lack of competition for food…all the littles run from her. Our mornings are still cool so I’m going to go in with the littles and get them used to being handled and being around me. The Runner duck will eat at my feet but the black duck is still super shy. I haven’t really done anything about that so I’ll be working on that as well.
