Same background here...bolts can be even worse, some just don't have the 'feel/touch' needed to use threaded fasteners.Very true.
Having worked in industrial manufacturing for decades Lord knows I have removed way to many stripped screws put in by people not paying attention. A tilted bit will rip up a screw head in short order.
My roosts are set on 2"x4" cross pieces on the coop walls, with a cut out section, or two pieces of wood to form a deep groove, so the roosts set into the grooves and aren't fixed in place at all. Easy to remove, or shift, for cleaning.
