We just bought a 3 mo old Wyandotte from a breeder. He said he thinks she is 80% female, but not for sure.

She has no comb yet. Wondering what age will determine her/his age?

Hoping for a hen. Can't have roosters.

Thank you for your opinions, Kari

Post pics in the "What Breed or Gender is This?" section. A clear profile picture, and a picture showing the comb and wattles is best. And include the age. With good pics, we can tell you whether it's a she or a he. :)

3 months is plenty old, we'll probably be able to tell you gender with 100% certainty.

Thank you, but I can't do pics yet.

I have Blue, Black, White and Columbian Wyandotte.
Wyandotte pullets have neck feathers with round ends while cockerels have pointed feathers on their necks.
Rose combs for both sexes will be flat and curved hugging the top of the head. At three months the little cockerels will begin to turn red. Wattles will be pink also. Pullets won't show red on their comb or wattles until they are point of lay at about 6 months.
