There is no magic answer to that fake eggs sometimes works I have one at the moment but here I think klutz is in order as eggs are not eaten.. do you offer oyster shell free choice?
Yes, but I haven't in about a week so I will try that. ty.There is no magic answer to that fake eggs sometimes works I have one at the moment but here I think klutz is in order as eggs are not eaten.. do you offer oyster shell free choice?
I will try this before trying vicks vaporub. I know that works for a chicken being picked on. Put it on feathers, not rubbed into body. One peck and watch them rub their beaks back and forth to get rid of it. A friend gave me this remedy and it worked great for me. Don't want to do it on eggs unless necessary....I used fake eggs. I collect my eggs right away. My problem was brief. It started when my hen laid our first ever soft shelled egg. Once they got a taste of it they ate a couple more. Not sure which hen had the sore beak from pecking on the ceramic eggs lol. Truly collecting them soon as possible is the key.
Yesterday I went to collect eggs and noticed there were only a few and the spot was wet with egg white. I cleaned it out. Today I ended up with 2 eggs, and again the box is wet. I was thinking of putting them back in with some vicks vaporub on them. Anyone out there figure how to stop chickens from eating eggs?
thanks! What a darn good idea love it when us old birds learn something new
try blowing out eggs then fill them with a strong mustard of hot hot sauce when the hen breaks into the egg she will decide she dose not like them
ho mine don't!Remember that hens love hot red pepper, and that they will eat it right off the plant while fighting each other for the right to do so.
