How to Stop ducks from burying eggs?? I am also so excited....read to find out!!!!!!

I have 3 ducks currently laying. I built a kind of nesting box for them to hopefully lay in. I took a couple chicken eggs, wrote a C on them and put them in the new “nest” to hopefully give them the idea it’s a good place to lay.

They were climbing under a duck house, and going behind another before to lay. I’ll know if it’s working in the next week I imagine.

So maybe take note of where they’re laying, and put a bin with bedding in that spot.
I will need to try that!

The only way to keep them from burying them is to take out their bedding ducks just naturally bury their eggs.
I guessed that there would not be a way to make them stop bury them. Thanks tho!

Please eat them. Don't waste. If you collect every day it doesn't matter if they are fertile. Unless you want to raise lings. They are so delicious. My girls often bury their eggs. I just dig around every morning. Deviled eggs, pickled eggs, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, fried eggs, life is like a box of chocolates.....
O yes!!! I plan on eating them. My friend had duck eggs and let me try one.....they are good!!!!! I got one eggs this morning and am going to save it. I hope I get more tomorrow so that I can make a bigger meal! I keep the shells tho so that I can give them to the ducks for ex calcium. I think they are fertile too so I will most likely try to hatch some....soon.

All my ducks are buffs so I think I will get some good number of eggs a day. I have attached some pics from yesterday. The one that I stepped on is in the pot....and I think my dog ate it.

Be sure you crush up your egg shells good so they don't look like egg shells. You may know this but if the girls realize how delicious the eggs are, they may eat them. When I have a surplus I feed them back, although it makes me a little queasy, but I chop them fine.

I do crush up so so so little tho my little man likes to eat them too! Any tips there?

Could anyone tell if that egg was fertile?

I mentioned up thread that I built a nesting box in hopes of getting our ducks to lay in a better spot. We found our fourth egg of the day in the nesting box today. It’s just a plastic tote with a hole cut into the side, and pine shavings in the bottom.
