How to stop egg laying

Wow, thank you so much and I'm sorry your girl is having such a tough time. Do you think these are all side effects from the implant? Daisy isn't even a year old yet, I'm so nervous to do something so extreme, but I really don't want her to go through EYP again. It was terrible for her. It's been a month now since and she's still not completely healed from it and laying again!

I don’t think it’s the implant that is causing issues, I think it’s because she was bred to be a little egg factory and reproductive problems have caught up with her. One of my other Isas ended up with EYP and I had to have her put down, but my oldest is four and seems to have skipped EYP entirely. I’m not getting any more Isa Browns, or Leghorns for that matter. I know it can happen to any breed (your girl is a case in point) but less likely with breeds not genetically designed to pump out eggs at the whim of humans.

We really don't deserve animals! Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it... My oldest girl Clover was a rescue at 4 days old, so she has had a life of luxury so far, ( she'll be 2 in November) and daisy was 10 weeks when I got her, but has just not stopped laying. I'm going to have a talk with my vet and see about getting the implant into SA, could prove difficult at the moment, but hopefully it will be what she needs. Thanks again for your help... I hope your girl gets better soon

Hi. Sorry, I haven’t been on much lately, and I missed the tag. Yes, I have a had pretty good success with hormone implants. My first hen who had them, was unfortunately too weak and never really returned to her full normal. She eventually passed. But currently I have a hen who is on her second implant, and she appears to be doing amazingly well. I suspect I will have to keep the hormones up, if I want to keep her around.
