So I have about 4 to 5 week old Coturnix Quails.(43) So Whenever I enter the coop they, all freak out. So I would like to know how I could tame them, because I want to keep a few as pets, but I would have to tame them first... So yeah..... Thanks!

You might need to pick a few and separate them out. Feed them, touch them, hold them for a really long time and many times for them to get used to you.

I don't know if you can do it for 43 birds but a few should work.

Great! I'm not planning to tame all 43, just a few, and so far I already have one! Brocolli seems to do the trick :). They really do love their veggies!!

Anyway, thank you for the advice!

Omg it hates me now. I took it out today, but when I held it it tried to jump out. It wasnt like this yesterday :( I put it back in with the others, but I tied a little bit or yarn around its food, loosely. I left it alone for a few minutes, still watching it, then it just started to fly. I did this the other days, but it didn't go far. Today I was chasing it because it was going pretty far. I really thought I lost it that time.... It started loosing height, and it landed, I grabbed it.... Then I decided if I was going to continue training, I had to clip its wings... So I did. I dont know weather I cut far enough or not, but hopefully I did. My mom keeps saying one day its going to fly onto the trees and it will never come back... I don't know how to do this

So the coturnix quail is the tamest of quail but still the rain man of quail. I started mine with a batch of 5 a day old. Now they are 4 weeks old. Everyday they are scared of me until I pick up each and everyone and say hello and remind them of who I am. Then they are fine as long as they don't loose sight of me. The second they don't see me anymore I am stranger danger until I remind them of who I am by picking them all up one at a time. I also have four gamble Quail that will never let me do a thing with them. So this isn't so bad.... they where 8 weeks old when I got them so I hope the babies will do better for me.

I would also never trust a quail out in the open. Inside my house yes, but outside instincts rule and they are to get far away from u and the shot gun you might own.

Yeah. Whenever I open the gate they kind of just begin to wander out. So.. No way I can tame them? Thats what I got them for. Hoping they would become tamed easily...

Like it was said before if you concentrate on a few of them you could probably get them to be a lot tamer. Thats why I handle mine each day, but I only have five not 43 lol.

Ok Thanks XD. Does gender have to do anything with tameness? Because the most tame ones are only females..

Random luck of their individual personalities.

Quail aren't the most sociable lap pet. If that was the main reason you got them then you probably should have gotten silky chickens.
