How to tame/ let quail be house pets

This baby LOVES :love my TEETH... when it's hanging out on my chest while I use my laptop in a reclined position, if I happen to smile or laugh, the chick will come over and peck at my teeth (yes they're clean) .. lol.. it's so funny. Sometimes it will peck or pull at my lips, or stick it's beak up my nose (not so cute). Antics are very funny.
It’s funny to find out the things they can get into! It’s natural for them to pick at your mouth, because birds will do that to preen their bonded partners. Sometimes, a pick can hurt though. My conure does it to me, and it doesn’t feel that good at times. My House Bobs try it from time to time too. Kiki, my little Button, loved to run her beak through my hair. Loved it! Sooo cute.

I adore my cat, but sweet little quail cuddles are the best.

yes, my little one is in my hair all the time.. constantly yanking & pecking at my hair & earrings.. or pecking at my glasses! Sometimes gets tangled in my hair and I have to pull it out.. The way this chick stretches it's neck way up to inspect things makes me LOL! ... I may name it 'slinky' .. I love when he/she is in my ear peeping & chirping away... so adorable..

But do you think a chick knows what a human mouth is? , I suppose they have never seen their OWN mouth.,, haaa

Well…. Your little ball of fluff knows you’re his/her mommy, so it stands to reason that he/she can locate and associate that your mouth is like his/her teeny mouth. Instinctually used for eating, drinking, preening, vocalizing (for mommy to pick him/her up) and bonding with/preening mommy. Totally my own opinion…. from a lot of happy experience. I think I need to hatch some LOL

Do it and keep us updated. It's so exciting. I actually have 12 eggs that are due any time for a hatch but I have a cheapy incubator. Only got 1 baby last time, was hoping for 1 more this time around. Will wait another few days before doing the water test to see if any movement in the eggs.

PLEASE post photos of the hatchlings! You’re right…. exciting! My little Kiki actually went broody once and hatched 7. She was a wonderful mommy. Funny to see a bird so tiny on top of 7 eggs, but she managed it. She was so proud and raised them herself with a wee bit of help from me.

honestly I don't think anyone is in those eggs -- They were gathered in cold weather up here in canada. No one is piping.
